equal opportunities

Purpose
Open Television (OTV) is committed to providing equal opportunities in all aspects of its work and ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background, are treated fairly and equitably. This policy aims to promote an environment free from discrimination, harassment, and exclusion, fostering a culture where diversity is celebrated, and all individuals have the opportunity to thrive.

Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, volunteers, collaborators, artists, and participants involved in any OTV program, event, or activity. It covers all stages of the organizational process, including recruitment, engagement, participation, and ongoing support.

Core Values
OTV is committed to the following principles in its pursuit of equal opportunities:

  1. Respect for Diversity
OTV recognizes and celebrates the diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences of all individuals involved in its ecosystem. We actively seek to create an inclusive environment where people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, abilities, ages, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds feel respected and valued.

  2. Non-Discrimination
OTV ensures that no one is discriminated against on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, class, religion, nationality, or any other characteristic protected by law. All decisions regarding recruitment, participation, and involvement in OTV programs will be based on merit and suitability, without bias.

  3. Inclusion
We are committed to ensuring that our programs, events, and activities are accessible and inclusive. OTV strives to create opportunities that provide everyone with equal access to participation, support, and growth. We actively encourage individuals from historically opportunity-challenged communities to engage with our work.

  4. Fair Treatment
All individuals within OTV’s ecosystem are entitled to be treated fairly and with dignity, in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism. We are committed to addressing any forms of harassment, bullying, or mistreatment that may occur, and to taking corrective action as needed to protect the rights and well-being of all involved.

  5. Empowerment and Growth
OTV provides opportunities for professional and personal growth for all individuals involved in its work, regardless of their background. This includes access to mentorship, skill-building, and leadership development to ensure everyone has the tools they need to succeed.

Responsibilities

  1. Organizational Responsibility
OTV leadership is responsible for ensuring that this Equal Opportunities Policy is adhered to across the organization. They will ensure that the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion are incorporated into all aspects of the organization’s operations.

  2. Individual Responsibility
All employees, contractors, volunteers, collaborators, artists, and participants are expected to respect the principles of equality and inclusion in all interactions. This includes fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment and reporting any violations of this policy.

Complaint and Reporting Procedures
OTV encourages anyone who feels they have been subjected to discrimination, harassment, or exclusion to report the incident through the following channels:

  1. Informal Resolution
Where possible, individuals are encouraged to first approach the person involved in a respectful manner to resolve the issue directly. OTV believes that open, respectful dialogue can often lead to quick and effective resolutions.

  2. Formal Complaint Process
If the issue cannot be resolved informally or if the individual does not feel comfortable addressing the issue directly, they can submit a formal complaint to the designated Equal Opportunities Officer or via email to info@weareo.tv. The organization will then follow up to investigate the matter in a timely and confidential manner, taking any necessary corrective action.

Commitment to Action
OTV is committed to continuously improving its practices in fostering equal opportunities. We will regularly assess and review our programs, recruitment, and engagement strategies to ensure that we are meeting our goals for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
